After a busy day, come back to our cozy Rocky Mountain cabin on Elk Creek near Bailey, Colorado, and enjoy a glass of wine as you listen to the rippling sounds of a mountain creek in your own back yard. Watch as the trout drift by. Grill a steak or your catch of the day. Both decks are adjacent to Elk Creek. What a treat to hear!

This old prospector found his treasure on Elk Creek and wants to share it with you. Our Rocky Mountain cabin rental was originally built in the 1930s on a granite foundation which was built to last, and has, as you'll see when you visit.

We've just completed a major renovation, creating an 1100 sq. ft. cabin, while maintaining its architectural integrity. A new metal roof blends into the green forested hillside. Our "windows of opportunity" look out on Elk Creek, towering pine trees and blue skies (or snow clouds). Both decks face the creek and are ideal for a quiet drink, barbecuing, and relaxing. This is a pet-friendly Colorado cabin, so you don't have to leave your best four-legged friend behind when you go on vacation.

The pine log interior creates a rustic homey atmosphere and blends well with the new hardwood floors in the Great Room. Enjoy dinner on the rough-sawn oak table next to a wall of windows looking out on the creek and hillside. River rock faces the nearby snack bar. The queen-size master suite is on the main level and has its own sitting area beside the fireplace. The bunk room is also on the main level facing the creek. A painter ladder creates access to the loft overlooking the great room. Great place for a nap -- up in the clouds. The claim I hit was so big I could afford to put indoor plumbing into my little cabin - just one bathroom with a shower.

DIRECTIONS:
From Denver: 470 to 285 West, thru Conifer to Shaffer's Crossing. Turn left (South) on Elk Creek Rd. Travel 5 miles to 15851 and our Rocky Mountain Retreat cabin.

• Year Round: $150 a night, double occupancy. Two-night minimum required; 3-night minimum over holidays.
• $25 per additional person; Minimum deposit of half of the booking fee to be paid prior to confirmation being issued by e-mail or US Mail.
• $50 cleaning fee per rental.
• Cancellation policy: $50 cancellation fee. If reservation is cancelled within less than two weeks prior to reservation, the 50% deposit will be forfeited.
