Santa is Coming to Lake of the Ozarks! Are you?

Since Santa and his elves are planning a getaway to Osage Beach this weekend, we hope you are too!  Our Lake Christmas Parade is this Saturday, December 8th, beginning at 1PM. The floats and bands will line up along Highway 242 and proceed down Bagnell Dam Boulevard (AKA The Strip) towards Bagnell Dam.  Mrs. Claus is coming with Santa because she’s heard those stories about Party Cove and tiny swimsuits on tiny, curvy bodies! This certainly is not the time to distract Santa from his chores! Wait till you see Santa’s ride! Sure enuf, it’s unique to our part of the world. Can you guess what’s under that red sleigh?

Deck the Docks Christmas Cruise on board the Celebration will take place each Friday and Saturday evening at 5:30 between now and Christmas. At the Lake, we view Christmas lights from the water – of course! Reservations are suggested because this is such a fun time and if it’s winter temp time they’ll need to know how much ‘hot chocolate’ to have on board for your sipping pleasure. Call 573-40-3212 and one of Santa’s helpers will fix you right up!  (Stay with us and Santa Sue will do the legwork for you!)

Have you heard the rumor that we have an Outlet Mall here – with 110 stores?!? Santa Sue offers a special money $aving coupon clip for B & B guests and a map to our local gift shops and boutiques. Enjoy dinner at one of our fine dinning restaurants, a dip in your private hot tub at the Inn, and a cuddle with your favorite elf in front of a flickering fireplace.  Surely, you’ll fall asleep ~ relaxed with thoughts of sugar plums and a finished shopping list dancing in your head!

So. . .when planning your next Lake of the Ozarks getaway, we suggest you innclude time to enjoy our many special holiday activities and a romantic sleepover at the Inn at Harbour Ridge, the Lake’s Most Inviting Bed and Breakfast.  The Inn is located just outside of the heart of Osage Beach, city close and country quiet, where there’s always a memory waiting to be made!

Happy Hearts! Happy Holidays!

In-Water Boat Show at Lake of the Ozarks

Lake of the Ozarks Marine Dealers will host their fall In-Water Boat Show September 14th thru the 16th, 2012. Location will be at our friends place, Captain Ron’s Bar and Grill, home of the Shootout. Captain Ron’s in located at the 34.5 mile marker in Sunrise Beach, Mo.

By land the Inn at Harbour Ridge is just a  20 minute drive. So come stay with us and then take in the boat show over on Hwy 5. Meditate on your new boat purchase while soaking in one of our private starlit hot tubs (OK- I’ll have a little cruiser for you to play with!) or paddling around Woodlawn Cove in our paddleboat!

Since this is the Association’s fall show, it’s deemed as the end of the season show. (Ladies, I think that’s the same as a ‘Clearance Sale Sign!’) Bass boats, party deck boats, ‘go fast’ boats, cruisers – there will be something for everyone. The fifty marine dealers in the Association  also represent marine accessories, docks, and personal watercraft. They can show you how to have fun on the water in our Boater’s Paradise at Lake of the Ozarks! Want to float your own boat? Call the Lake home?  This is an event you’ll want to make plans to attend!

No worries, Matey! Fall  is the best time of the year to enjoy the Lake of the Ozarks!

Show times are from 1PM to 7PM on Friday, the 14th, 10AM to 7PM on Saturday, the 15th, and 10AM to 4PM of Sunday, the 15th. For more information visit the Lake of the Ozarks Marine Dealers website.

When planning your next Lake of the Ozarks getaway, we suggest you allow yourselves time to relax and enjoy the Lake’s special activities and a stay at the Lake’s most inviting Bed and Breakfast, the Inn at Harbour Ridge.  See ya soon!

Water Rodeo at Lake of the Ozarks Missouri

Leave your horse at home and hook up your wave runners! Coconuts Caribbean Beach Bar and Grill along with Premier Vacations at Lake of the Ozarks will present the first ever Wave Runner Rodeo at Lake of the Ozarks this Saturday, August 11th, 2012. By water the action will be at the 7 mile marker of the Gravois Arm. Landlubbers can drive into Coconuts at 15208 Red Hollow Road, Gravois Mills 65037.

If you’ve seen barrel racing at a rodeo you’ve got a good idea how things will work on water! Two racers at a time on a slalom course with left and right turns (buoys instead of barrels) since the action is on the water! So bring your machine and let’s see who has the fastest wave runner on the Lake of the Ozarks! Or just come for the weekend and rent a wave runner once you’re here! Don’t miss the opportunity to say you rodeoed ON the Lake! Contestants will need lots of fans to cheer them on. What a great way to celebrate the end of summer and benefit the Wounded Warrior project!

Our award winning bed and breakfast , the Inn at Harbour Ridge, is close by in Osage Beach and has rooms available this weekend – with lots of clear blue water in our hot tubs and twosome tubbies. There’s a lake at the bottom of our ridge and a private gated pool nearby. Come see us for summer fun at the Lake of the Ozarks.

Welcome to our blog and an innside peek at the Inn at Harbour Ridge Bed and Breakfast.

We built our dream, Harbour Ridge Inn, nine years ago from our own rough sketches with the grand inntention of opening the perfect B & B. During our Research and Development stage we traveled from Northern Illinois ( Sue’s family home) to Southern Florida (Ron’s oldest son’s home where our two oldest grandgirlies live … hey there, Kate and Noodle!) and all parts in between ~ searching for good architectural ideas and good innkeeping. We’re thankful to all the B & B owners we meant along the way and their willingness to share their experience with us. We created our very own architectural style called “country nautical,” a laid back French country theme, casual enough for a B & B at one of the Midwest’s premier resort destinations, the Lake of the Ozarks.

And so with lots of TLC and special touches Ron built my dream. We opened on Valentine’s Day of 2000 ~ so all of February is a celebration time for us! Ron shows off his home building talents in the design and construction of the Inn. The interior details and decorations (yes, for EVERY holiday!) reflect touches of warmth and whimsy. During football and basketball seasons we root our home team, the University of Missouri Tigers, on to victory – either in Columbia or at a vocal watch party here at the B & B. We laugh and tell guests we bleed black and gold…The Tiger flag waves, the chargers and napkins are black and gold. We even serve black and gold breakfasts on game days. This year, with a 23 and 4 record, life is very good!

We offer our guests four differently themed guestrooms and a guest “cottage” in our Big Red Barn. Our favorite guest room is Uncle Bill’s Place, named after my great uncle. Guys get a charge out of Uncle Bill’s billy club, the one he used to chase Al Capone’s gang. Anterls above the twosome tubby hold plaid towels. 96 ties in Windsor knots make up the window valances. Ron’s favorite quip is that “it all ties together!”

And tie together it does. Each guestroom has everything that anyone could want or need, as well as all the little things to help guests feel relaxed and romantic. Ron enjoys storytelling guests while he is s’posed to be serving breakfasts on weekends. I enjoy making our breakfast parties a fun time for guests and helping folks reconnect and re-kindle.

So we invite you to sit back, grab a cup of coffee, and enjoy the innkeeper insights we’ll be sharing on our blog.

Happy Hearts! Sue
