The gorgeous fall season is just around the corner–the first day is in fact September 22nd! What are some of your favorite things as we bid adieu to summer and say welcome to fall? Football under the Friday night lights, cooler weather, changing leaves and bursts of color, and pumpkin spice that makes everything nice might makes a few top ten lists. Around here, we love the fall season for all of the above but adding to the list are some of the great events that take place in the beautiful Lake of the Ozarks. A favorite coming up in just a bit is the Versailles Olde Tyme Apple Festival.
The theme for this year’s festival is, “Our Roots Are Here.” The Versailles Old Tyme Apple Festival has been a landmark event in this area since 1980. It all began as an homage to the historic courthouse and the Head’s Orchard apple crop. Back in the day the 400-acre orchard produced up to 60,000 bushels of apples—shipping them out to several different states and Gerber Baby Food. Even though the orchard no longer exists, this festival has stayed put, remaining a favorite of locals and visitors alike. This year the apple festival will be taking place October 6th in downtown Versailles, less than an hour’s drive from our inn. The award-winning event, that draws festival-goers from all over the state and beyond, will provide a host of fun activities.
